Most second homes
(Properties) are located within less than a day's drive
from the city or town of their owners. The majority are
located near the ocean, a lake, or the mountains.
The Lake of the Ozarks
lake and resort area just south of Jefferson City,
Missouri is no longer a secret in this respect. The
Condominium Industry here has mushroomed in the past 10
years. Growing from a background of fishing camps and
one cabin resorts numbering in the 360s+ in 1962, the
background has dwindled to a paltry 50 or less and are
being rapidly replaced by modern condominiums in all
sizes, shapes, and amenities.
One current example is
that of the Niangua Bridge area west of Camdenton.
Multiple condominium complexes have developed over the
last 10 years.

For those of you who
invested in a condominium in the mid eighties or early
nineties here at the Lake of the Ozarks, the
appreciation over the long haul has doubled in many
cases. Such projects as Cedar Glen or Parkview Bay which
offered pre-construction prices have doubled in price in
less than ten years. Both make good rental properties or
enjoyment properties.

More recently in the
mid-2000s, the growth is toward higher end condominiums
with more amenities such as elevators, more space,
customized upgrades, and convenience.
